this is beautiful, lisa. i wasn't a smashing pumpkins fan, really, tho i love "1979"—but i ended up on a date seeing billy corgan play at the saenger theater here in new orleans back in oh, 2016 i think. it was football weekend and the crowd was weirdly aggressive, drinking and getting up a lot. at one point he just stopped playing and yelled at everyone to sit the fuck down (maybe not his exact words, but this was the essence). i kinda loved it. hope this project gets you back to feeling like the writer you want to be again. the words are there. and here.

LISA! I feel like I'm back in your Creative Writing class, except this time it's YOU with the birth/mom story. It feels so full circle! First of all, congratulations on the birth of your son. I am over-the-moon happy for you. I love your matter-of-fact, blunt writing style. Not everyone loves the term "rainbow baby". People squirm when you discuss miscarriage or the death of a parent. They expect you to compartmentalize and move on. I know life is busy, especially as you embrace motherhood, but I'm grateful that you are sharing these life experiences via this memoir newsletter. I AM HERE FOR IT SIS! Even with my hummingbird attention span, I did not click over to another of the thousands of tabs I have open until I read your first installment. Looking forward to next Friday!
